  14. I am currently trying to install TeX (on a Sun) and have run into a problem.

  16. [Using the directions in web2c-6.1/README]

  18. Rather than using /usr/local as the prefix, I'm using /i/home/moser/local
  19. as the prefix. I've modified the Makefile.in's and also have run configure as:

  21. configure -prefix /i/home/moser/local
  22.  
  23. I've checked the Makefiles that have been produced and they look O.K.
  24. I've also checked kpathsea/paths.h and it looks O.K. (except that for
  25. DEFAULT_FIG_PATH and DEFAULT_PICT_PATH which are not set).
  26.  
  27. Configure runs O.K.
  28.  
  29. The problem occurs in the make for web2c-6.1/web2c/mf
  30.  
  31. Here are the messages I get:

  33. ! I can't read mf.pool.
  34. *** Error code 1
  35. make: Fatal error: Command failed for target 'mf.base'

  38. I have checked to see that:

  40. "/i/home/moser/local/lib/texmf/ini"
  41.  
  42. exists and that mf.pool is there. That seems O.K.
